Improving Your Fitness and Flexibility With BJJ

Did you just start out with brazilian jiu jitsu? Let me share with you some tips to help you get started. I promise that these will help make a difference in gearing up towards the martial art and combat sport.

1. Keep It Simple

If it is your first time to learn a new moveĀ BJJ street fight and position, keep things simple. Your goal would be to have a basic understanding of it. Be careful not to overwhelm yourself. Before moving on to the next one, be sure that you have understood the steps of the previous technique.

2. Pay Attention To Detail

While you are constantly practicing and repeating the moves, keep in mind every detail. You should remind yourself of this as you do it over and over again.

3. Do Not Be Afraid To Ask Questions

If there is anything that you do not understand, do not hesitate to ask questions right away. This will help you in the long run. Just be sure that the questions you will be asking are relevant and straight to the point. Time is valuable.

4. Take Down Notes

Be sure to have a notebook handy. Keep a record of everything that you have done in class. Include any questions that you might raise for the following class. This will make a huge difference.

5. There Is No Harm If You Tap

Do not be afraid to tap. There is nothing wrong if you will tap and tap often. You better get this idea clear. Everyone, even champions, goes through this process to help them improve and succeed.

6. Be Humble

Keep your ego at a low key. Do not lose physical or emotional control during training. Be careful not to hurt or injure your training partners and be mindful of their suggestions. If you do not do this, sooner or later, no one will want to be your training partner.

7. Get A Little Extra Training On The Side

You need not aim to become an athlete of a different sport; you just need a bit of extra training. This will help you in the long run. Strength and endurance training will be most helpful.

8. Be An Early Bird

Come to class earlier than your scheduled time so you would have ample time to warm up and stretch. This will also be helpful in the long run as it will help with flexibility to avoid injuries.

9. Do Something Different

Do not be afraid of change. Try something new while you are sparring. Even if it does not work the way you wanted it to be, go ahead and give it a try. You will not learn if you have not failed nor taken chances.

There you have it. As simple as these tips may be, I can assure you that this will make a huge difference in your future as a grappler. Just follow these, and you are on your way to becoming a successful one!
