There are people in need of charitable assistance all over the world for a variety of different causes. Third world countries struggle with basic necessities such as food, water, shelter and education. However there are people at home that struggle to make ends meet too. How you help is up to you, globally you can make a bigger impact for less money, but locally you can see the difference your money is making.
Do Some Research
Now that you have narrowed down the field of charities, it’s time to look into these charities. Not all charities are well….charitable, they spend far too much money on overhead and administrative costs to do any real good. If you have chosen to work with a local charity then contact them and speak with the director. Look for anything that seems out of the ordinary, expensive office space or asking for cash donations. Many reputable charities will take cash donations, but make sure that you get receipts. Charities need to keep clean and orderly records and cash must be tracked.
